We don’t get much in the way of Northern Lights here on the south coast of England, but as the Sun is coming into it’s solar maximum later this year, we had a very large CME heading towards Earth and it hit Europe just right for Kent to be lit beautifully beneath clear skies. For once the borealis gods smiled down upon us.

My daughter and I headed down to Kingsgate Bay under the Captain Digby pub on the cliff. There’s a chalk arch there.
I shot RAW with a Nikon D5300 and a Nikkor 10mm lens at f/4.5 and 10s exposures at ISO 800 using a Manfrotto 055 tripod and post production in Adobe Lightroom.
